What is Fenbendazole?
Animals suffer the most from the diseases caused by internal parasites. Fenbendazole is an effective anthelmintic for veterinary use in CATTLE, SHEEP, GOATS, PIG, POULTRY, HORSES, DOGS and CATS against roundworms and tapeworms. But it is ineffective against flukes and various external parasites. Fenbendazole is administered orally. It is massively used in all kinds of livestock and abundantly in pets often in the form of tablets, pills, or oral suspensions) and horses (mostly in oral pastes & gels).
In ruminants, this medical drug is administered only by a 50% reduction of the diet 36 hours prior to and 8 hours after treatment that slows down the passage through the stomach, increasing the efficacy of the treatment.
In treating carnivorous pets like dogs and cats, delivery with the food increases the bioavailability of all benzimidazoles resulting in better efficacy.
Fenbendazole mode of operation:
Fenbendazole works by binding to the beta-tubulin within the microtubules and inhibiting their formation. This results in the disruption of cell division. This potent disruption blocks the parasite's ability to produce energy, starving the parasite until it dies.
Synonyms of Fenbendazole:
Fenbendazole API is also known as Panacur, Phenbendasol, and Fenbendazolum.
Fenbendazole Active Ingredients:
The active ingredient of each tablet of fenbendazole contains benzimidazole carbamate anthelmintic that is structurally related to mebendazole.
Fenbendazole and Animal diseases:
Fenbendazole is highly effective for the treatment of numerous helminth intestinal parasites in animals, including Toxacara, Toxascaris, Ancylostoma, and Trichuris. Dogs are effectively treated against the most intestinal helminth parasites and nematodes.
Fenbendazole benefits/effectiveness/results:
Fenbendazole is very effective for treating internal parasitical problems occurring in small and large-sized animals. In dogs, it is useful to treat diseases caused by whipworms, roundworms, and hookworms. It is also effective against the tapeworm known as taenia specie, but at the same time is ineffective against the common tapeworm. It works well against Giardia (an intestinal protozoan that causes diarrhoea) as well as several species of lungworm and flukes.
Fenbendazole is administered if a pet suffers from chronic diarrhea without any undetected cause during testing. Fenbendazole functions like a general dewormer if administered for a long time and removes undetected parasites from the animal body.
